Bear Proof Guide is an independent comparison site. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Interagency Grizzly Bear Committee (IGBC), the Wildlife Management Institute (WMI), the Southeastern Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies (SEAFWA), or any manufacturer or brand mentioned here. Brand names and logos belong to their owners and appear only to identify the real products being compared.

How we make money

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Commissions do not change which products we list or what we say about them: products appear because of a real certification number, not because of a business relationship. We will note it plainly if that ever changes.

Information, not a guarantee

• A certification means a specific product passed a specific test against live bears. It does not guarantee that any product will withstand every bear in every situation.
• Our data comes from the official IGBC and WMI/SEAFWA certified-products lists and from manufacturers. We check it carefully and mark anything we could not confirm, but lists change and mistakes are possible. Confirm a model's current certification with the certifying body and the seller before you buy.
• Laws and ordinances about trash, feeding, and attractants vary and change. Our guides are general information, not legal advice. Check with your local wildlife agency or municipality.
• Bear safety involves real risk. Nothing here replaces guidance from wildlife officials or your own judgment.
