Privacy Policy

Short version: browsing this site collects nothing about you. When you finish our Product Finder we record your answers without your name. We only receive your name or email if you type it into our quote form, contact form, or partner form, or ask us to email you a shortlist.

What we do not collect

  • No accounts or logins — there is nothing to sign up for.
  • No advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics scripts.
  • No name or email from the Product Finder unless you choose to give one (see the next section).
  • No cookies and no tracking IDs. The Finder uses a random number that exists only in your open browser tab and disappears when you close it.

What the Product Finder records

When you reach your Finder results, our server records your answers (what you are protecting, who it is for, the size, hauler type, bear situation, and the ZIP code if you typed one) and which products we recommended. It does not include your name or email. We also count when you click a recommended product. We use this to see which products people want and to improve the Finder, and we email a short alert to the site owner each time someone finishes it.

We keep daily totals and a rolling log of the most recent 500 completed Finder sessions. We skip all of this if your browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal. We do not store your IP address; a scrambled version that expires within an hour is used only to stop abuse.

If you ask us to email you a shortlist

Below your Finder results there is an optional box. If you type your email and tick the consent box, we store your email address with your answers, send you that one shortlist, and notify the site owner so they can reply if you write back. It is not a newsletter. To have your email and answers deleted, tell us through the form on our For Business page.

What we collect when you request a quote

If you fill out the quote form (on our For Business page or at the end of the Product Finder), we receive the details you type: your name, email address, phone number, organization, ZIP code, the kind of property you manage, and any notes you add.

If you use our contact or partner form

The contact and partner forms send us what you type: your name, email, company (partner form), and message. We email it to the site owner and keep a backup copy so it cannot be lost. We use it only to reply to you, and we do not add you to a newsletter or share it with other companies. To have it deleted, ask through the contact form.

How we use it, and who else sees it

  • To get you a quote. If you request a quote, we pass your request to the manufacturer(s) of the products you are asking about so they can quote you directly. They will contact you using the details you provided.
  • Email and storage services. Emails are sent through Resend, and the Finder totals and logs are stored in a database from Upstash, both acting on our behalf. Quote requests may also be delivered through Web3Forms, a form-to-email service.
  • We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for anything unrelated to your request.

Hosting and server logs

This site is hosted on Vercel. Like virtually every web host, Vercel automatically logs basic technical data for each visit (such as IP address and the pages requested) to keep the service running and secure. We do not use that data to identify you.

Links to other sites

Product and manufacturer links take you to sites we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own — check their policies before sharing information there.

Your choices

You can ask us to delete a quote request you sent, or tell us to stop passing it along, by writing to us through the form on our For Business page. Note that once a request has been forwarded, a manufacturer may keep it under their own policy.

Children

This site is meant for adults buying products for homes, businesses, and public spaces. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

If we change how we handle information (for example, adding analytics), we will update this page and the date above before doing so.
